Task 2B

Unwomen poster

The purpose of the unwomen poster is to inform the audience of how women may feel and to portray the fact that women do not have the freedom of speech whatever skin colour they are. The target audience for this campaigning poster would be the female audience with the secondary audience being any male viewers as they would like to spread what is going on behind closed doors and in other countries. It may relate with a wide area of the audience as many women/teenage girls may feel like they are also being treated in this manner therefore they will be able to find out more information as the poster is eye catching and formal and a reliable source. In addition to that the poster also communicates with the audience as it has visuals of women who may have also experienced the feeling of no freedom of speech.
The message they are sending is that there are young women within this generation which have experienced this or are still being a witness of this act therefore it needs to become well known and stopped before it becomes out of hand. This has been shown through the use of text which has been wrapped within the poster above each female models mouth. Also the pictures are close ups so the audience can see the feeling within the eyes of each model and feel sympathy for women going through this. The mood for the poster is serious and dynamic so the audience don't get distracted and focus on the main points of the poster and so that the audience can have an emotional reaction to the poster which may persuade them to help.  The genre of this poster is non-fiction as it is based on reality. The organisation use dark colours to connote how the victims feel and has used a white search box as it is a contrast between black and makes it easier to read and get the message across. Typically posters include both textual and graphic elements, therefore the poster is designed to be both eye-catching and informative.

Unwomen website

The purpose of the website is to give the public more information about the campaign that they may need to know; it is also there as another platform for the audience to view the campaign and learn more about what they are about as it has videos to help them have a better understanding of the women that do not get freedom of speech on a daily bases. They have the same audience as the poster and the moving image campaign as they are different forms of promoting platforms for one organisation. The mood from the website is different from the mood of the poster as the poster is to catch the audience’s attention whereas the website is where the audience may go to find extra information. The websites mood is calm and relaxed; this is as the audience are now familiar with the organisation if they have already seen the poster which may be promoted on many different devices. The brand identity here is friendly so that the audience can feel calm and like they are now a part of the organisation.

The colours used are blue, orange and, white. This is as white is a neutral colour and blue and orange are slightly harsher allowing the audience to know what they are reading is important and draws attention to the website. These colours will allow the audience to know that the information they are reading is important but the white allows them to feel calm as it is neutral. The font used is basic so it is easy and accessible for anyone to read. The purpose of a campaign based website is to allow the audience to gain more information about the campaign and read about people that may have been in experience allowing the audience to have a background based on the website. The website can also be a platform to portray the campaigns moving images and poster.

Unwomen moving image

The purpose of the video is to give the audience an ideal idea of what their victims go through on a daily basis and all the emotions they may have felt within this process every single day. The mood and atmosphere of this campaign is frantic and upbeat. this to represent how the victims feel and give the audience an idea of how they may actually feel inside which contrasts with how they look on the outside. This campaign is formal and serious to get the message across to the audience. There have been subtitles added within the moving image so that the audience is able to understand what each victim is saying due to the fact that this has been taken in south Asia and the women based within the video speak in another language. Moving images allow the audience to be able to have a visual view of what is going on within the campaign and see if they have made any changes within the few years the campaign has been known. I believe that moving images also allow the audience to analyse whether the campaigns purpose is either false or true, as there may be many fake campaigns in todays community are trying to gain money through their fake campaigns.

  1. Blessing you have explained how messages and meanings are conveyed in two existing examples of graphic design for your poster campaign, however you have only described and have not linked back to the product with full explanation for the website and moving image campaign.
